OMTRA - Old Meadows Tenants and Residents Association

Old Meadows Tenant and Resident Association (OMTRA) have been working in the Old Meadows since 1998 to promote a sense of community and improve the area for everyone who lives or visits the Old Meadows.

During this time we have developed strong links with agencies like, Nottingham City Council, Nottingham City Homes, the Police, the Community Protection officers and many more. We undertook a survey of the people who live in the area to ask them what their top priorities are. They told us they wanted better street lighting and to feel more secure in their homes and in the area. Using the feedback we received we campaigned for better street lighting which we received. We also secured some funding to provide security gates to some of the entrance of some of the alleyways in the area to help people feel more secure.

It is also important to OMTRA to enhance the area visually and we have put hanging baskets outside many houses and also planted a wild flower garden.

Eckington Terrace has won awards in the Nottingham in Bloom competition three times, and also won an award at East Midlands in Bloom. Barnsley Terrace and several individuals have also won awards over the years.

We produce a newsletter quarterly to keep people informed of the latest developments and regularly hold public meetings. We have also set up a Neighbourhood Watch for one of the streets in our area and are hopeful that this will be extended to include others this year.

We also try to make sure we keep our fingers on the pulse of issues that affect the wider community and regularly attend meetings including those for the OZONE Project.

We hold regular meetings and are keen for new members to join our Tenant and Resident Association.
