EVERY WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON 1.30 TO 3.30 PM AT QUEENS WALK
The dance group was initially started by Mary Parnham, who had
been a sheltered housing warden in the Meadows. She was
joined in this venture in 1998 by Mary Daly, who too, had been a
sheltered housing warden in the Meadows.
The group is a social dance and musical afternoon for the over
50's and anyone joining is made extremely welcome.
We provide tuition for Sequence, Latin and Ballroom dance by a
professional ballroom dance teacher - Ann Culley. The
afternoon runs from 1.30pm to 3.30pm every Wednesday and we meet in
the concert room of the Queens Walk Community Centre. (Please note,
we don't meet during the month of August).
We give support and assistance to everyone, including vulnerable
and disabled members of the community. The dance afternoon
promotes healthy exercise for physical and mental well-being and
hopes to enhance the quality of life for all of those involved.
We all dance with one another and you can come along by
yourself, or with a partner.
The group has a social fund which you can join for
just £2 per week and this covers refreshments and outings during
the year, including a Christmas Outing.
The group is run by the secretary, Mary Daly, and the Treasurer,
Jane Jeoffrey. There is also a committee consisting of
approximately ten members of the Dance Group.
For further information or to join the group, please contact
Mary Daly on 0115 9528308.
